The first sudden pivot opened my eyes wide; then ratcheting up the tension made my eyes open wider and wider. I would call it taut and tantalizing, deviant yet relatable.
Yeah, I sure was reckless for some years! And I got lucky. No bruises, scars, or STDs as souvenirs. But back to the writing ~
Dialogue was a strong point, among other good grips! Iβll be eager to read the next installment.
Thanks Michelle! It's so fun writing scenes that swerve between vibes because of unstable characters. I'd say more about being the recklessness, but that should wait until after Side B is posted. Appreciate you being out there! π
I loved "we crashed into each other like Black Friday shoppers." Sex and capitalism both come with certain expectations, huh. Loved "grow taller" most of all. Also as soon as Suzanne came on, I was already humming "and she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China" when Billie brought in the cup.
Lovely part 1. You're a generous writer, I hope you flip the record soon.
Thank you Madeleine! I'm glad you dug it, especially the "grow taller" part because that really was wisdom I wasn't ready for back then and yet, somehow it stuck. I promise not to make you wait too long for the second half π
Dan! I miss you! "pee-tube", "sexless toad", and "fucked a baby" are now phrases singed into my psyche. in a good way. lol. excited for Side B.
Thanks!! Iβm so happy youβre on this ride with Us and digging my fouler turns of phrase. Side B is coming soon π
